The Government of Delhi on June 05, 2023, issued a circular regarding the implementation of Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) from 5th-17th June 2023.
Childhood diarrhoeal disease continues to be a major killer among children. Hand washing is an important process for removing or reducing the number of microorganisms from the hands. Washing of one's hands will decrease the risk of infectious diseases like Diarrhoea.
The following school activities would go a long way to reduce the incidence of diarrhoea and build lasting habits of hand washing to maintain basic sanitation and hygiene:
• Display posters depicting correct hand washing steps in the hand washing areas.
• Demonstration of correct hand washing techniques during school assembly. Emphasizing the importance of hand washing in school assemblies.
• Ensuring that children wash their hands using soap and water, following the steps they are taught before taking their mid-day meals.
• Importance of the use of ORS in the case of Diarrhoea should also be emphasized.
• Poster making and displaying in the hand-washing areas.
