The Government of Kerala on June 09, 2023, Kerala imposed Ban on trawling in the state from June 10 to July 31 at midnight.

The mechanized boats should not go out to sea or engage in fishing during the ban. Legal action will be taken against vessels violating the ban. The ban does not apply to boats engaged in traditional fishing. Only one carrier berth with inboard vessels is permitted during the trawling ban period. 24-hour fisheries control rooms have been started in coastal districts.
