Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) on June 16, 2023, notified regarding the initiative taken by NHAI for the Rectification of Accidents Spots Through Short-Term Measures.

The NHAI has taken the initiative and produced guidelines for the short-term correction of accident-prone areas on National Highways. Under these instructions, NHAI Project Directors now have the authority to repair accident-prone sites recognized and approved by the appropriate State Police Chief or the District Road Safety Committee, up to a maximum of Rs. 10 lahks per spot. The pertinent Regional Office has been allocated responsibility for short-term actions costing more than Rs.10 lakhs and up to Rs.25 lakhs.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways notifies black areas based on predefined criteria. However, in addition to the black spots identified by MoRTH, NHAI has taken this proactive action to improve road safety and user comfort on the National Highways.
