The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on June 21, 2023, published a notification regarding the Directions to all FSSAI Notified laboratories for Organic testing under sections 43(1) and 43(2) relating to the Recognition and accreditation of laboratories, research institutions, and referral food laboratories of the FSS Act 2006
The following has been directed to all the FSSAI Notified laboratories namely: -
• To review their current capabilities and take the necessary steps to enhance the infrastructure and scope of the testing for organic products.
• To make an application to APEDA for recognition of the laboratory for testing organic products.
• To apply to the National Referral Laboratory of APEDA for participation in proficiency testing as a pre-requisite to qualifying for pre-export testing of organic products.
