Industry Specific ComplianceThe Food Safety and Standards Authority of India,(FSSAI) on June 20, 2023, launched a surveillance drive to curb the menace of spurious drugs manufactured by nutraceutical companies operating across the country.

As part of this endeavor, the regulatory agency launched its first round of drives in Himachal Pradesh and instructed its Regional Office, North, to take swift action against defaulting Food Business Operators involved in the manufacture of fake pharmaceuticals.

FSSAI emphasized the absolute necessity for strict compliance with nutraceutical regulations, the Commissioner of Food Safety, Himachal Pradesh, to provide full support in carrying out the drive effectively

The Food Safety Connect app, which is accessible on both the iOS and Android platforms, is another tool provided by the FSSAI to let citizens participate in ensuring food safety. Individuals can quickly report any non-compliance or violations they come across through this user-friendly platform, enabling the FSSAI to act quickly and rectify the issues.
