The Ministry of Power (MoP) on June 28, 2023, issued the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme, 2023 under powers conferred by clause (w) of section 14 of the Energy Conservation Act, 2001, in consultation with the Bureau.
The following has been stated:
• National Steering Committee for Indian Carbon Market
• Functions of the National Steering Committee
• Bureau as administrator and its functions
• Registry and its Functions
• Commission as Regulator for trading activities under Indian Carbon Market
• Technical Committee and its Functions
• Accredited Carbon Verification Agency
• Trading of carbon credit certificates
• Compliance Mechanism
• Detailed procedure
• Power to issue directions
It shall come into force on June 28, 2023.
