The Government of Maharashtra on June 30, 2023, issued the Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act, 2023.
The following has been stated namely: -
• It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra
• The Laying of the notification before each House of State Legislature has been stated
• The Power of the State Government to prohibit strikes in certain employment has been stated
• The Power of the State Government to prohibit lay-off in certain establishments has been stated.
• The Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act, 2017 is hereby repealed
This shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint
The Act shall cease to have effect on the expiry of the five years from the said date except as respects things done or omitted to be done before such cesser of operation of this Act Section 7 of the Maharashtra General Clauses Act, shall apply upon such cesser of operation of this Act, as if it had then been repealed by a Maharashtra Act.
