The Central Electricity Authority (CEA) on June 20, 2023, issued the Guidelines for Field Efficiency Test in Hydropower Plants (including Pumped Storage Projects).
The following has been stated namely: -
• The objective of the guidelines is to guide Hydropower Generating Utilities in the Country, to provide a uniform approach for carrying out tests, and to minimize disputes between the Project Authority and the Supplier of the units in the project.
• This Guideline will be applicable to any size and type of unit comprising a generator – motor and impulse/reaction turbine, and pump-turbine above the unit size of 5 MW.
• The Efficiency of the units and the formula for calculation has been stated.
• The various test methods for the determination of efficiency have been stated.
