The Department of Pharmaceuticals issued the Strategy Document on the National Medical Devices Policy, 2023.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The policy envisions that the Indian medical devices sector will grow with a patient-centric approach to meet the evolving healthcare needs of patients.
• The Policy will facilitate the growth of the medical devices sector that not only serves the needs of the Indian market but that of the global market as well.
• The six broad areas of work for the promotion of the medical device industry are: -
1. Regulatory Streamlining
2. Enabling Infrastructure
3. Facilitating Research and Development & Innovation
4. Attracting investments in the sector
5. Human Resource Development and Brand positioning & Awareness Investments in the sector
6. Human Resource Development and Brand positioning & Awareness creation.
