The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on July 07, 2023, released a Consultation Paper on Regulatory Mechanisms for Over-The-Top (OTT) Communication Services, and the Selective Banning of OTT Services.
The following has been stated: -
•Department of Telecommunications (DoT) through a letter dated September 07, 2022, which was about framing a suitable regulatory framework for OTT, requested TRAI to reconsider its recommendations. TRAI conveyed to DoT that it is of the view that a fresh consultation process must be initiated to frame a suitable regulatory framework for OTT.
•Inputs from stakeholders are invited by August 04, 2023, and counter comments by August 18, 2023, preferably in electronic form, at advmn©trai.gov.in.
