The Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) on July 06, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Aadhaar Seeding (Linkage of Pan with AAdhaar).
The following has been stated namely: -
• It was informed that accounts that are not compliant with the Aadhaar seeding shall be frozen for both – debit and credit with effect from July 08, 2023.
• If the demat account in frozen status with PAN verification flag “0 – PAN not Verified”, “2 – PAN Verification reversed” and “5 – PAN Verified and Aadhaar linked to be checked” under status code “21 – Individual” with the fourth letter of the PAN as “P” becomes compliant with Aadhaar seeding, then DP can modify the PAN verification flag as “6 - PAN verified and Aadhaar linked confirmed by DP” in the demat account of the respective BO.
• Such compliant accounts can be immediately unfrozen from the freeze and unfreeze module in the CDSL system.
• The details of the demat account unfrozen by the DP and correspondence documents of the BO with the DP shall be maintained for record and compliance.
