Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on July 07, 2023, issued an advisory to all community radio stations.

The Grant of Permission Agreement for CRS is issued for an initial period of 5 years in accordance with the Policy Guidelines for Establishing Community Radio Stations. The permission can then be renewed for 5 years at a time. In the fourth year of operation, a permission extension application must be submitted.

It has been observed that the request for an extension of GOPA is not sent in time which results in the expiry of the existing permission agreement. Further, for renewal of WOL, the permission agreement should have a validity commensurate with the requested renewal period.

In view of the above, all the Community Radios Stations, whose GOPA is going to expire within 12 months, are advised to send an application for an extension of GOPA by Speed Post/Registered Post with the following documents:

• A duly signed and stamped copy of the GOPA renewal/extension form.

• A bank guarantee having validity for the next five years.

• A self-declaration and governing body details for obtaining security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). The self-declaration and governing body details should be submitted in the prescribed format only, along with the complete required details.

The GOPA renewal/extension form and other documents can be downloaded from the MIB website - www.mib.gov.in/ or can be requested through an e-mail at [email protected].
