Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) on July 07, 2023, issued the Draft Guidelines for the exhibition of Public Service Awareness (PSA) films of Central Government in cinema theatres.

The following has been stated namely: -

• Public Service Awareness (PSA) Films/Approved Films are those scientific films, films intended for educational purposes.

• Mandatory screening of PSA films/Approved films: It is mandatory for all film exhibitors/theatre owners/Digital Cinema Service Providers/agencies/licensee applicants to screen the PSA films/Approved films in their cinema theatres.

• Duration of PSA Films: The duration of screening of the Approved Films/PSA Films is now reduced up to ʻ2 minutes’. Such film shall be screened in cinema theatres for a period of 15 days or as per the decision taken by this Ministry.

• The comments/suggestions may be sent by July 22, 2023, to [email protected] with the subject of the email as ‘Comments/suggestions on the Guidelines for Exhibition of PSA Films’. The comments/suggestions may be sent as a post as well to Shri Dhananjay Kumar, Deputy Secretary (Films-ll).
