Industry Specific ComplianceThe Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) on July 10, 2023, issued a notification regarding the clarification of compulsory BIS certification of Derby shoes

The following has been clarified namely: -

• It states that the Derby shoes as per IS 17043:2018 will be under compulsory BIS certification from July 01, 2023, according to the Leather and Other Materials (Quality Control) Order, 2022

• it has been clarified that currently only the Derby Shoes which are to be used by armed forces/police forces are covered in the scope of IS 17043:2018 only these derby shoes will be covered under the Leather and Other Materials (Quality Control) Order, 2022.

• It further states that the Leather and Other Materials (Quality Control) Order, 2022 shall not apply to derby shoes for civilian use.
