The Bureau of Indian Standards, (BIS) on July 10, 2023, issued a notification regarding the implementation of quality control orders on footwear products.
Quality Control Orders on 24 footwear products covered under the All-Rubber and All Polymeric Material and its Components (Quality Control) Order, 2022 and the Leather and other materials (Quality Control) Order, 2022 shall be implemented from July 01, 2023. However, for the following products for which standards have been revised recently, the manufacturers making the products as per these revised specifications will be given an additional time of 6 months to comply i.e. up to December 31, 2023.

•IS 15844 (Part 1):2023 – Sports Footwear Part -1 General Purpose, and IS 15844 (Part 2):2023 – Sports Footwear Part 2 Performance Sports Footwear
•IS 10702:2023 - Hawai Chappal
•IS 6721:2023 – Sandal and Slipper
