Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Maharashtra on July 14, 2023, issued a notification regarding giving instructions to cooperatives and private milk unions in the state for fixing minimum cow milk rates.

The following has been specified: -

•The committee set up for the purpose unanimously recommended to the government that the minimum purchase rate of milk should be Rs.34 per liter for cow milk (of quality 3.5/8.5) per quintal when purchased by cooperatives and private milk projects in the state.

•The directions are being given in the public interest so that milk-producing farmers do not suffer financial loss due to a reduction in the purchase price of milk.

•The District Dairy Development Officer shall submit a monthly report to the Government through the Commissioner, of Dairy Development regarding the implementation of the minimum milk rate.

•The new rates will be effective from July 21, 2023.
