The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) on July 14, 2023, notified the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Rules, 2023 further to amend the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017.
The amendment is as follows: -
•Rule 15 which talks about Accessibility and the related rules has been amended, in sub-rule (1), clause (d) has been added which specifies that culture sector-specific harmonized accessibility standards/guidelines, notified by the Government of India in the Ministry of Culture, vide notification number G.S.R. 7 dated 18th January 2023, as amended from time to time.
The rules shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
And it is informed all persons likely to be affected to submit any objections or suggestions before the expiry of a period of thirty days.
