The Government of Chhattisgarh on July 19, 2023, notified the Indian Stamp (Chhattisgarh Amendment) Bill, 2023 further to amend the Indian Stamp Act, 1899 as applicable to the State of Chhattisgarh.
The amendments are as follows: -
•In section 2 new clauses have been added that is clause (11-A) which talks about the e-stamp or electronic stamp and Clause (12-A) which talks about the term impound which means the taking of the instrument into the custody of the public officer with an endorsement made thereon in this behalf.
•Section 45 (1) has been omitted.
The bill shall come into force from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
