The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on July 24, 2023, published the Draft Telecommunication Consumers Education and Protection Fund (Sixth Amendment) Regulation, 2023 for stakeholders' comments
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that this draft proposes amendments to regulations 6 and 13 of the principal regulations relating to the expenditure from TCEPF required for the preparation, maintenance, and audit of accounts, as well as the participation of representatives of consumer groups in CUTCEF meetings and provisions required in the regulations
• it is stated that this draft seeks to revise the primary rules that have been made to update the applicable clauses which states the Corporation Bank, where the TCEPF is held, has amalgamated with the Union Bank of India. Furthermore, the 1986 Consumer Protection Act has been abolished by the 2019 Consumer Protection Act.
• It states the draft regulation is accessible on the TRAI website www.trai.gov.in and shall be open for comments of the stakeholders up to August 14, 2023.
