The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAH&D) on July 21, 2023, notified the draft Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Rules, 2023 further to amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Establishment and Regulation of Societies for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) Rules, 2001.
The rules are as follows: -
•Rule 2 lays down various definitions of the terms like ―Jurisdictional Veterinary Officer, SPCA means Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
•Rule 3 talks about the Establishment of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
•Rule 5 talks about the Constitution of the Management Committee of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
And it is informed all persons likely to be affected to submit any objections or suggestions before the expiry of thirty days.
