Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on July 21, 2023, issued a notification regarding the APB SoP SMS to be sent to customers

The following has been stated namely: -

• It states that the Bank should send a communication to the customer, either through mail or SMS, on the seeding of an Aadhaar number with the seeding date in case of successful seeding. In case of unsuccessful seeding, the communication should be sent along with the reason for rejection. SMS only should be sent wherever the customer has registered his mobile number.

• It states that the Deseeding communication should be sent to the customer. If the customer has registered his mobile number, then an SMS may be sent to this effect.

• It states when the subsidy amount is credited to the account the bank should send an SMS to the customer informing them of the credit with the scheme and amount details.

• All the banks may please note that the usage of Aadhaar for DBT purposes has gone up significantly therefore it is important that the customer is aware of the seeding/deseeding status to take necessary corrective action as may be required for seamless receipt of subsidy.

• It further states that All the member banks are advised to immediately review their process and ensure that the communication is sent through SMS to the customers as per the event detailed
