The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on July 21, 2023, issued a notification regarding the E-Mandate simplification and harmonization of the limit of all variants of mandates.
The following has been stated:
• Simplified authentication mechanism:
A new workflow has been designed to simplify the E-Mandate registration process to improve the customer experience and drive the digitization of mandates. As per the design, the mandate will be authenticated based on the following factors.
o Aadhaar number: Last 4 digits
o Permanent Account Number (PAN): Last 5 digits
o Customer ID: Depending on the definition of each bank
• Harmonization of mandate limits of all variants of mandates
Further to our circular no NPCI/2020-21/NACH/Circular No.010 dated, July 15, 2020, on amendment of the e-Mandate scope and limit of E Mandate, it has been decided to harmonize the limit for all variants of the E-Mandate with the limits of the physical mandates. The mandate amount limit for all the electronic variants is to be enhanced to be at par with the current limit of Rs1.00 crores (Rupees one crore) of physical mandates.
