NPCI notified regarding the UIDAI OTP verification charges for Aadhaar Authentication in E-Mandates

Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on July 21, 2023, issued a notification regarding the UIDAI OTP verification charges for Aadhaar Authentication in E-Mandates.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The Aadhaar-based E-mandate has been implemented to enable the wider segment of society to use the Aadhaar number for registration of the mandate.

• This mandate relies on the authentication of the requester through UIDAI through Aadhaar + OTP mechanism.

• Authentications that failed due to a UIDAI-specific error for OTP verifications will not be charged.

• At the time of monthly billing the authentication charges of UIDAI will be passed on to the respective sponsor banks along with the processing fee charged by NPCI. 

• The details of the transactions shall be shared with the banks 

• This shall be effective from February 2023.
