The Government of Maharashtra July 25, 2023, published the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees (Amendment) Bill, 2023 to further amend the Maharashtra (Urban Areas) Protection and Preservation of Trees Act, 1975.
The following has been stated namely: -
• In section 6 which states “Appointment of other officers and servants” the clauses (iii) and (iv) of Section 6A shall be deleted.
• In section 8 which states “Restrictions on felling of trees”
(1) in sub-section (3), in clause (a-1), first, second, and third provisos shall be deleted;
(2) sub-section (5B) shall be deleted.
