The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on July 26, 2023, issued a notification regarding the protection and secure access to the critical computer resources of the Indian Bank and its related systems as defined under the Information Technology Act, 2000.
The following has been stated: -
•The declaration states that the computer resources related to the Core Banking Solution, Real-Time Gross Settlement, Automated Teller Machine Switch, and Unified Payments Interface Switch, which collectively constitute the Critical Information Infrastructure of the Indian Bank, and its associated dependencies, are to be considered "protected systems" under the Information Technology Act.
•The notification further authorizes specific personnel to access these protected systems. The authorized individuals include designated employees of the Indian Bank who have written authorization, team members of contractual managed service providers or third-party vendors who have been granted written authorization for need-based access, and consultants, regulators, government officials, auditors, and stakeholders who have written authorization on a case-by-case basis by the Indian Bank.
This notification shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette.
