The Government of Maharashtra on July 26, 2023, issued the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies (Third Amendment) Bill, 2023 to further amend the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act, 1960.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Section 73 which states “Committee, its powers and functions” in sub-section (1A)(a), has been substituted namely: -
“The first general meeting of a society shall be convened within three months from the date of its registration or reconstruction to appoint a provisional committee and to transact other
business as may be prescribed.”
• In section 101(1) which states “Recovery of arrears due to certain societies as arrears of recovery of land revenue” the word “individual” shall be deleted.
• The Maharashtra Co-operative Societies (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2023, is hereby repealed.
It shall be deemed to have come into force on July 10, 2023
