The University Grants Commission (UGC) on August 01, 2023, notified the University Grants Commission (Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and other Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education) (3rdAmendment) Regulations, 2023 further to amend the University Grants Commission (Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and other Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education) Regulations, 2018.
The following has been amended: -
•No person shall be appointed to the post of University and College teacher, Librarian, or Director of Physical Education and Sports, in any university or in any of the institutions including constituent or affiliated colleges recognized under clause (f) of Section 2 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or in an institution deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the said Act if such person does not fulfill the requirements as to the qualifications for the appropriate post as provided in these Regulations.
•Wherever the requirement of the Orientation Course (OC)/Refresher Course (RC) has remained incomplete, the promotions would not be held up, but these requirements should be fulfilled by December 31, 2023, or as notified by the Commission from time to time.
•SLET/SET score shall be valid for appointment in respective State Universities/Colleges/Institutions only.
These shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
