The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) on August 02, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Aadhaar-based payment system in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The Aadhaar Base Payment System (ABPS) has been adopted to tackle the following issues: -
1. Non-timely payment of wages to the beneficiaries
2. Issues arisen due to frequent changes of Bank Account Numbers by the beneficiaries
3. Non-updation by the Programme Officers
• The wage payment of the beneficiaries is being made till August 31, 2023, either using ABPS or NACH mode depending upon the status of the ABPS of a beneficiary.
