The Government of Maharashtra on August 03, 2023, introduced the Maharashtra Shops and Establishments (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) (Amendment) bill, 2023 further to Amend the Maharashtra Shops and Establishment (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 2017.
The amendment states the following: -
•In Section 61 after sub-section (8) of sub-clause (b) sub-clause (B1) shall be inserted which talks about every female employee in the establishments mentioned in sub-section (4) of Section 2 shall be granted leave during the period of menstruation.
•It shall come into force on such date as the Government of Maharashtra may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
•It shall apply to the entire State of Maharashtra.
