The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) on August 07, 2023, issued a Press Release regarding the Adoption of Sustainability Measures
The following has been stated namely: -
• It states that the MSME Sustainable (ZED) Certification Scheme encourages MSMEs to improve their processes and systems to enhance quality and move towards sustainability by minimizing environmental impact, it further provides financial assistance up to 75% of the total cost of testing/certification, with the maximum ceiling of subsidy being Rs. 50,000. ZED-certified MSMEs are eligible for handholding and technology upgradation to support up to Rs. 2 lakhs and Rs. 3 lakhs respectively.
• It states that in the MSME Competitive (Lean) Scheme, the MSMEs are entitled to financial assistance up to Rs. 2,16,000 towards advanced-level implementation of the scheme to reduce rejection rates, product and raw material movements, and product cost.
• It states that MSME Innovative Scheme provides financial assistance up to Rs. 15 lakhs per idea to host Institutions for developing and nurturing the ideas.
• It has taken various initiatives through the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) to increase the adoption of sustainability measures among MSMEs namely Mission Solar, Mission Evolve, Mission Waste to Environment Taste, Mission Energy Efficiency, Nurture t Nature, Sustainability Perception Index (SPeX) and Green Inclusivity (GRiT)
