The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) on August 07, 2023, notified regarding the regulation of Minimum Wages to the Outsourced Persons engaged by IWAI through a contractor.
This is to inform that the contractor and the director of the regional office of IWAI were both made aware of the fact that the wages being paid to security guards were lower than the Minimum wages required as per a notification issued by the Chief Labour Commissioner (C) of the Government of India (Central) during an inspection of one of the Regional Offices of IWAI by the Labour Enforcement Officer (Central).
The minimum wages have already been revised on April 01, 2023, and the next 6 monthly revisions will be due on October 01, 2023.
In order to avoid non-compliance with the Minimum Wages Act of 1948 as prescribed by the Government of India, Ministry of Labour & Employment, vide their notification issued in this regard, which is also available on their website https://clc.gov.in/clc/, the Director of Concerned Regional Office shall, from this point forward, ensure that Persons Engaged Through Contractor Should Be Paid Minimum Wages.
