The Ministry of Jal Shakti on August 08, 2023, notified Guidelines on accessible and inclusive piped water supply for persons with disabilities and for other population groups with access challenges.
The objective of this document is to provide information for designing an accessible and inclusive piped water supply for persons with disabilities and for other population groups with access challenges, including people with temporary access challenges such as pregnant women or mothers with young children or individuals who are suffering from short term physical ailments, since they too face similar barriers while accessing drinking water facilities.
Some of the specific accessibility barriers that this document will try to address by way of suggesting solutions are attached to the document.
