EHS ComplianceThe Assam Pollution Control Board on August 14, 2023, issued a Direction to the Hotels, Health care facilities, and Automobile Service Station to install a Treated Water Storage Tank

The following has been stated namely: -

• It states that All the Hospitals, Hotels, Resorts, and Automobile Service Centres in the State are directed to install a Treated Water Storage Tank (TWST) with a minimum capacity of 10 KL to store the treated water from the ETP/STP by October 15, 2023. 

• The tank may be installed either over ground or underground and there should not be any bypass system of the ETP and treated water should be routed mandatorily into the TVVST from which the Board shall collect samples for verification of compliance and examine the adequacy of the ETP. 

• All the units must install a flow meter at the discharge line from the TWST and records must be maintained accordingly.

• It further states that in case of Failure to comply with the above condition shall attract a minimum environmental compensation fine of Rs. 5000/- per day w.e.f. October 02, 2023.
