The Pollution Control Board, Assam (PCBA) on August 11, 2023, issued a notification regarding the issue of Consent and Authorization to Waste Collectors.
The Board has decided to stop issuing the Consent and Authorization to Waste Collectors as management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste generated in any industry is solely the responsibility of the occupier.
All the occupiers of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes are hereby directed to ensure that such waste is disposed of as per the provisions of the hazardous wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016, Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 as amended, E-Waste Management Rules2016 and Battery Waste Management Rules, 2016.
The occupiers of such wastes shall keep a record of the final disposal of various wastes and submit an annual return to PCBA as per the provisions of the Rules as applicable.
