The Finance Department, Odisha on August 11, 2023, issued a notification to write off arrears including tax penalty between Rs. 5,001 to Rs. 25,000.
The following has been stated namely: -
• A large number of arrear tax cases involving small amounts are pending for long including interest and penalty under the Odisha Sales Tax (OST) Act, Odisha Additional Sales Tax (OAST) Act, Central Sales Tax (CST) Act, Odisha Value Added Tax (OVAT) Act and Odisha Entertainment Tax Act.
• The Government is writing off arrear tax between Rs. 5,001 to Rs. 25,000 in each case up to the period of March 31, 2023, under the OST Act, OAST Act, CST Act, OVAT Act, except for 6 goods namely – Petrol, diesel, ATF, natural gas, petroleum crude oil and liquor for human consumption and the Odisha Entertainment Tax Act.
