The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) on August 20, 2023, issued a notification regarding the launch of the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP).
The following has been stated: -
•The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) will be launched on August 22, 2023.
•This program is a significant step forward in the Government’s commitment to improving road safety by raising the safety standards of motor vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in India.
•The program aims to provide a tool for car customers to make a comparative assessment of crash safety of motor vehicles available in the market.
•It is expected that the demand for safer cars will increase, encouraging car manufacturers to comply with customer needs.
