The Government of Uttar Pradesh on August 04, 2023, issued the Uttar Pradesh Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Industry Policy, 2023.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The policy aims to revamp the state’s pharmaceutical and medical device industry by encouraging local production, promoting research and development, and improving the availability of affordable medicines to the citizens.
• The objective of the policy is namely: -
1. To encourage modern pharmaceutical and medical device research, build world-class infrastructure and attract the world’s best talent to contribute to the State’s development.
2. To promote the creation of intellectual property (IP) in the pharmaceutical sector by facilitating R&D institutions and contributing more funds to R&D in the pharmaceutical sector
• This policy will be effective after the date of expiry of Uttar Pradesh Pharmaceutical Industry Policy, 2018, i.e., June 08, 2023, and will remain in force for a period of 5 years.
