The Government of Maharashtra on August 21, 2023, issued the Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University (Amendment) Act, 2023 to further amend the Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University Act, 1998.
The following has been stated namely: -
• Under section 2 which states “Definitions” the following clause shall be inserted before clause (1)
“(a-1) “affiliated college” means a college which has been granted affiliation by the University;”
• Section 26 which states “Executive Council” the Clause (xiii) and (xiv) has been substituted under sub-section (1)
• Section 27 which states “Powers and Duties of Executive Council” clause (xv) has been substituted namely: -
“(xv) to arrange for and direct the inspection of affiliated colleges and recognized institutions and issue instructions for maintaining their efficiency and for ensuring proper conditions of employment for members of their staff and in case of disregard of such instructions, to recommend modifications of the conditions of their affiliation or recognition, or to take such other steps as it may deem proper”
• Section 37A which states “Withdrawal of Affiliation” has been inserted.
