Commercial ComplianceThe Government of Karnataka on August 17, 2023, issued a notification regarding the High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) Scheme.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The following guidelines have been issued with respect to affixation of HSRP on old vehicles: -

1. HSRP would be affixed by the vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) and their Authorized dealers only. Only the HSRP manufacturer authorized by the vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) shall supply the HSRPs only to their authorized dealers. Affixation of HSRP on old vehicles shall be carried by authorized dealers of OEMs.

2. The HSRP portal shall have the capability to inform the vehicle owner status of the order placed for fitment of HSRP through SMS

3. The OEMs or its authorized manufacturer/dealer may offer the services to the vehicle owners for fitment of the HSRP where the owner resides or has his place of business on payment of extra charges subject to the willingness of the vehicle owner

• The timeline for fixing HSRP is as follows: -

1. For all classes of vehicles registered prior to April 01, 2019, the vehicle owners shall have to take the necessary steps to get the HSRP affixed on their vehicles.

2. No e-challan shall be issued and no fine shall be collected or no penal action shall be taken against any old vehicle registered prior to April 01, 2019, for plying vehicles without HSRP till November 17, 2023.
