The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on August 16, 2023, issued a notification regarding organizations to apply for setting up Community Radio Stations (CRS).
The following has been stated-
As per the policy guidelines for setting up CRS;
(i) 1. (a) It should be explicitly constituted as a ‘non-profit’ organization and should have a proven record of at least three years of service to the local community. The educational institutions applying for CRS must certify that the institute is not for profit. In this regard, the educational institution should submit a certificate in its name issued by public authority. The not-for-profit certificate in favour of an educational institution issued in the name of the parent organization is not acceptable. For example, if an educational institution ‘xyz’ gives a certificate of a not-for-profit in the name of its parent organization ‘abc’ then the application will not be considered eligible. However, the ‘ABC’ may apply in its name for setting up CRS.
(ii) As per the policy guidelines for setting up CRS;
1. (c) It should have an ownership and management structure that is reflective of the community that the CRS seeks to serve. In pursuance of the above, the applicant organization, before making any application for setting up of CRS shall ensure that the governing body members of the applicant organization should not be blood relatives/members of the family. A certificate to this effect may be attached with the application while uploading the form on the https://new.broadcastseva.gov.in/ portal.
(iii) The Self Declaration for the organization and authorized signatory and all governing body members/trustees for whom security clearance should be completely filled in by the applicant organization and no column should be left vacant.
