Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Karnataka on August 29, 2023, notified the Karnataka Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2023 further to amend the Karnataka Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

The following has been stated: -

•In notification No. TD 99 TDO 2021, dated June 26, 2023, related to the Karnataka Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Rules, 2023, of the Karnataka Gazette Extra Ordinary, (Number-250) the Gazette was made available to the public. And whereas, no objections or suggestions have been received by the State Government.

•The Government of Karnataka hereby makes the following amendments to the rules: -

•Insertion of new rule 200A which talks about the Levy of fines and penalties through Electronic Enforcement Devices. - In addition to the Check Report (C.R) and Check Report Cum Receipt (C.R.R) issued at the time of levying fines and penalties under section 200 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, an Officer notified by the State Government is authorized to levy, collect fine and penalty through e-Challan using an Electronic Enforcement Device.

They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette.
