The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on September 05, 2023, Harmonization of Classification of Industrial Sectors into Red, Orange, Green and White Categories regarding semiconductor industries.
CPCB has categorized the additional nine industrial sectors, namely, (i) Scrapping Centre (ii) Used Cooking Oil Collection Centre (iii) Compressed/Refined Biogas (iv) Railway Stations, (v) Dairy Farms & (vi) Gaushalas, (vii) Building and Construction Projects having built-up area up to 20,000 m² and wastewater generation≥ 50 KLD, (viii) Construction and Demolition (C&D) Waste Processing Plants, and (ix) Gold Assaying & Hallmarking Centres.
CPCB Committee on the categorization of industrial sectors, in its meeting held on 07.08.2023, categorized Semiconductor Manufacturing Industries, the details of which are given in Annexure-I attached to the document.
All SPCB/PCCs are directed to adopt and implement the categorization of Semiconductor Manufacturing Industries and submit the Action Taken Report (ATR), within 15 days.
