UGC revised the Procedure of Submission and Verification of Documents under National Fellowship for Persons with Disabilities

Industry Specific ComplianceThe University Grants Commission (UGC) on September 08, 2023, was notified regarding the revised Procedure of Submission and Verification of Documents under the National Fellowship for Persons with Disabilities.

The following has been stated namely: -

• It states that the National Fellowship for Persons with Disabilities is implemented by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. Processing and disbursement of fellowships are done through the Canara Bank Scholarship Fellowship Management Portal (SFMP)  (https://scholarship.canarabank.in/) 

• It states that it has been decided by the department that nodal officers appointed by UGC/Universities in respect of the fellowship scheme of NET-JRF of UGC may also be assigned the responsibility of the nodal officer in respect of the NFPwD scheme. Wherever, nodal officers of NET-JRF- are not available, the nodal officer of the National Fellowship for SC or the National Fellowship for OBC schemes implementation by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment may be assigned the responsibility of the nodal officer of NFPwD. In case of unavailability of nodal officers for these two schemes, nodal officers of any other similar scheme may be assigned the responsibility of the nodal officers in respect of the NFPwD scheme.

• In case of the need for appointing a new nodal officer of NFPwD the scheme, the concerned university/institution is requested to expeditiously appoint a nodal officer so that the scholars do not face undue hardship.
