NSE notified regarding Dummy indices broadcast

Secretarial ComplianceThe National Stock Exchange (NSE) on September 11, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Dummy indices broadcast.

This is in reference to Exchange circular no. NSE/CMTR/54503 dated November 18, 2023, has communicated performing internal order/trade activity in dummy securities every trading day before the start of market hours as part of pre-market sanity checks. 

The following has been stated namely: -

• It states that to further strengthen the pre-market checks of the trading platform, the Exchange shall now extend its testing in dummy index/indices computation as a part of the pre-market sanity check.

• It states that in view of the above, dummy indices shall be incorporated in the index token master file viz cm_index_token_mstr.txt. (Available on Extranet under nt. neat/”) path”/common/portal Index having the last 7 characters of its name as "NSETEST" shall be identified as a dummy index for this purpose.

• It is requested to note that the inclusion of dummy index/indices in the index token master file is purely intended for internal testing of the Exchange, hence, market participants shall ignore receipt of any such data in the form of report/feed/broadcast. Any reference/processing/activity/consumption and consequent results on the said data shall be at their own discretion/risk. In no event will NSE, its officers, or employees be liable for decisions made or actions taken in reliance on the said data.

• The dissemination of dummy index/indices shall be effective from the mock of October 07, 2023, and will be available in the Live environment with effect from October 09, 2023.
