Secretarial ComplianceThe Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on September 12, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Instructions to Principal Entities under Telecom Commercial Communication Customer Preference Regulations, 2018 - Measures to Curb Misuse of Headers and Content Templates – SMSes.

The SEBI has advised that all intermediaries who send bulk SMSes referred to as Principal Entities (PEs), in order to strengthen the process so that only genuine communications go to the consumers, may be sensitized with the following instructions of TRAI-issued to effectively implement the directions:

  • Whitelisting of URLs / Apks / OTT links / call back numbers by Pes
  • Digital Consent Acquisition (“DCA”)

The members are hereby advised to refer to directions dated May 12, 2023, and June 02, 2023, from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
