The Government of Rajasthan on September 14, 2023, published the Rajasthan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (Jobner) Jaipur Act, 2023
This Act aims to establish and incorporate a university for the purposes of development of veterinary and animal sciences in the State of Rajasthan by ensuring proper and systematic instruction, training, research, and extension in modern systems of veterinary and animal sciences and its allied sciences at its constituent as well as affiliated colleges, institutions or units.
This act shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
The following has been stated namely: -
• This act shall extend to the whole of the State of Rajasthan.
• The following shall be the objectives of the University, namely:-
(i) making provision for imparting education towards the development of quality human resources, in different branches of study in veterinary, dairy, food, and animal sciences
(ii) furthering the advancement of learning and conducting research
(iii) undertaking extension education
(iv) promoting partnerships and linkages with national and international educational and research institutions
(v) liaising and establishing vital linkages with the concerned line departments working in the fields of animal husbandry, dairy, and food sciences, fisheries and dairy development, and animal technology in the State, by whatever name called, governed by the Government of Rajasthan as well as the Union Government;
(vi) liaising with National and International Academic and Research Institutes, specializing in the field of veterinary, animal, dairy, food, and fishery sciences and animal technology with a view to keeping abreast of the latest technology
(vii) such other objectives as the University may from time to time determine.
• The University shall have the following powers and functions, namely:-
(a) to provide instructions, training, and research in veterinary and animal sciences including self-finance mode;
(b) to provide for dissemination of the findings of research and technical information through extension education programs;
(c) to institute degrees, diplomas, post-doctorates, and other academic distinctions in veterinary, fisheries, dairy, food, community, and animal sciences;
(d) to institute courses of study and hold examinations for and confer degrees, diplomas, and other academic distinctions on persons who have pursued and qualified for a prescribed course of study or research or both in the University including part courses or research or both carried out in any other University or recognized institutions for the purpose
