The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) on October 03, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Anti-dumping investigation concerning imports of Isopropyl alcohol originating in or exported from China PR
The following has been stated namely: -
• it states that the product under consideration is isopropyl alcohol, it is a compound with the chemical formula CH3CHOHCH3, It is a colorless, flammable liquid with a strong odor. It is used to manufacture a wide variety of industrial and household chemicals and finds major applications in the production of bulk drugs and drug formulations which are vital in pharmaceutical manufacturing. It is also used as a common ingredient in chemicals such as antiseptics, disinfectants, and detergents. The essential parameters that define the product are its percentage purity, specific gravity, residual impurities, water content, and refractive index
• It states that the product under consideration is classified under Chapter 29 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 under the HS Code 2905 12 20 of the Customs Tariff Classification. The customs classification is indicative only and not binding on the scope of the product under consideration for the proposed investigation
• It states that the subject country for the purpose of the investigation is China PR.
• it states that the period of investigation is from April 2022 to March 2023 (12 months) for the subject investigation. The injury period proposed to be examined is April 01, 2019, to March 31, 2020, April 01, 2020, to March 31, 2021, April 01. 2021 to March 31, 2022, and the POI.
• The interested parties are advised to furnish their comments/ suggestions on the proposed PCN methodology within 30 days from the date of initiation of this investigation.
