The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on October 11, 2023, issued a notification regarding the Implementation of PMKVY 4.0 in CBSE affiliated Schools under the Skill Hub Initiative
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has been implementing the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) since 2015, aimed at creating a workforce ready for the industry and enhancing employability skills. This scheme primarily targets individuals such as school or college dropouts, out-of-school children, and unemployed youth aged between 15 and 45. The scheme offers them industry-linked skilling courses that align with their abilities and career aspirations.
A significant aspect of the program is the utilization of existing school infrastructure as 'Skill Hubs' to provide skill education and training, either after school hours or on non-working days.
In the 2021-22 academic year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) introduced and piloted the 'Skill Hub' initiative under PMKVY 3.0 in selected schools.

The Government of India has announced the launch of PMKVY 4.0 in the Union Budget for 2023. This new version aims to build upon the experiences gained from the implementation of Skill Hubs (SHI) under PMKVY 3.0.
All schools affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), both private and government institutions, are encouraged to consider establishing Skill Hubs on their premises, especially if they already offer skill subjects, following the provided guidelines and norms.
