The Petroleum & Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) on October 17, 2023, issued a notification regarding Do's and Don’ts of fire crackers for safety during the Deepavali festival.
The following has been stated: -
•Do’s –
Buy the fireworks, manufactured in compliance with Hon’ble Supreme Court directives from the reliable sellers possessing licenses.
Always an adult should supervise the use of fireworks.
Safety precautions marked on the fireworks should be strictly followed.
Use a candle or an agarbatti to ignite the fireworks.
•Don’ts –
Manufacture, Sale, or use of Fireworks generating noise exceeding 125dB(A1) or 145 PK at a 4-meter distance from a point to bursting is prohibited. For individual firecrackers constituting the series (joint crackers) the above-mentioned limit is to be reduced by 5 log 10 (N) dB where N is an equal number of crackers joined together.
Do not burst sound emitting firecrackers between 10 pm to 6 am.
Never ignite fireworks while holding them. Keep the fireworks at ground level, ignite, and walk away.
