The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I) on October 20, 2023, issued the Draft Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) (Amendment) Rules, 2023 to further amend the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Rules, 2002.
The following amendment has been stated:
• In the Table of the First Schedule, which states “fees to be paid in respect of applications, oppositions, registration, renewal or any other matters under the Act or the rules”, the following table specified in the draft has been substituted.
The said draft rules will be taken into consideration after the expiry of a period of thirty days from the date on which copies of the Gazette of India, in which this notification is published, are made available to the public.
Objections or suggestions, if any, shall be taken into consideration before the period of 30 days and may be addressed to the Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi- 110011 or by e-mail at [email protected];
This notification will come into force from October 20, 2023.
